Utility Arborist / Foreman

2 years minimum production tree trimming experience

Proficient in pruning and removals of trees of all sizes and types

Professional and safety oriented, leadership and team skills required

Proficient in pruning and removals of trees up to limits of utility approach

Preferred candidate will have the following qualifications-

  • ISA Arborist (preferably ISA Utility Arborist cert)
  • Apprentice or journeyman lineman
  • Orientated with NSP substations within HRM
  • Chainsaw Safety
  • Experience using Altec / Versalift booms
  • Experience using wood chippers
  • Experience using gas powered equipment
  • Experience using pruners, sheers and other arborist equipment
  • Confident, safe, and efficient in all aspects of tree removal and pruning operations including; working in proximity to hydro and utilizing cranes and aerial lifts where required.

Job Duties-

  • Provide tree trimming services and inspections to client properties
  • Provide trimming and removal of trees up to electrical limits of approach
  • Responsible for climbing, pruning and removing trees as per work specifications
  • Capable of maintenance of truck, chipper and trimming equipment
  • Management of customer service, job site, and crew operation
  • Apply / receive hold off, lock out / tag out.
  • General labour activities

Education/Assets/Other-

  • Class 3 Drivers license
  • Working knowledge of modern arboriculture climbing & rigging techniques.
  • Electrical safety and awareness and understanding
  • Chainsaw sharpening and maintenance, wood chipper and stump grinder maintenance
  • ISA certifications (Tree Worker, Arborist)
