We are looking for experienced Consultant Arborist's to join our growing passionate and professional team, providing high quality arboricultural advice to a broad range of clients in Christchurch. Your Responsibilities:

  • Tree assessments - Visual Tree Assessments (VTA), ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), and QTRA (Quantified Tree Risk Assessment).
  • Preparation of arboricultural reports and tree management plans – Constraints Reports, Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Tree Protection Management Plans, Pest Management Plans, Urban Forestry Management Plans etc.
  • Protection of trees on development sites – report writing and tree protection plan implementation.
  • Tree inventories – data collection, GIS mapping, quality assurance and data analysis.
  • Expert Witness for court and legal cases.
  • Plant health care – pests, diseases and abiotic issues diagnostic and management.

Your skills and experience:

  • Level 6 NZQA Diploma in Arboriculture (or equivalent such as BS, MS or PhD in arboriculture, urban forestry or related natural resources fields with relevant experience)
  • Additional arboricultural and/or urban forestry credentials are a plus such as ISA Certified Arborist, BCMA, TRAQ, QTRA, Registered Consulting Arborist, pesticide applicator license etc.
  • An understanding of tree biology, arboriculture and urban forestry principles.
  • Experience implementing international best management practices, specifications and standards, tree policies, relevant tree regulations, legal issues and quality assurance practices.
  • Excellent tree and plant species identification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical report writing experience.
  • Proficient using Microsoft office suite, GIS technology and willingness to learn other technology as required.
  • Candidate must have a high level of initiative, leadership capability, strong organization, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Act with integrity and follow professional ethical and legal responsibilities.
  • Clean drivers’ license.
  • Previous experience working consultancy or government settings preferable.
