Climbing Arborist & Estimator (Combined Role)
Salary: $75,000 – $100,000 per year (plus bonus incentives)

Grizzly Tree Experts is owned and operated by Dan Holliday, founder of ClimbingArborist.com.
We’re a boutique tree company based in Vancouver, performing about 95% of our work within the city. We specialize in high-quality residential tree care, with a mix of commercial clients, and we use the latest in climbing, rigging, and arboricultural techniques to deliver safe, efficient, and top-tier results.
What You’ll Do
This position combines hands-on tree work and estimating: roughly four days per week in the field and one day focused on quoting and client relations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a crew and ensuring safety, efficiency, and top-quality work
- Performing all aspects of tree work: pruning (ornamental, fruit, and large-scale), removals (including technical hazard removals), and more
- Driving company vehicles and towing/operating a chipper
- Using and maintaining all power tools and climbing equipment
- Troubleshooting mechanical issues (e.g., changing chipper blades, clearing blockages)
- Planning jobs, delegating tasks, and maintaining communication with the team and company owner
- Meeting clients, preparing quotes, and supporting smooth project management
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of professional climbing experience
- ISA Certified Arborist (or currently studying for certification)
- Strong knowledge of SRS and MRS climbing systems
- Skilled in rigging, with an understanding of forces, systems, and mechanical advantage
- Excellent job planning and organizational skills — calm under pressure and focused on quality
- Proficiency (or interest in learning) in client communication and quoting
- Mechanically inclined and proactive in maintaining tools and equipment
- Physically fit and passionate about safe, efficient tree work
- Valid driver’s license required
- TRAQ certification an asset
- Interest in tree climbing competitions (we’ll support you!)
